Let’s be honest: deleting the wrong record in Dynamics 365 has always been a bit of a nightmare. You hit delete, then realize — wait, that wasn’t supposed to go.
Until recently, that meant trouble. You’d either dig through backups (if you had one) or call for help. But things have changed — in a good way.
Microsoft has introduced a Recycle Bin for Data verse and Dynamics 365 environments, and it’s honestly something a lot of us have been waiting for.

Microsoft has introduced a Recycle Bin for Data verse and Dynamics 365 environments, and it’s honestly something a lot of us have been waiting for.
What’s the Recycle Bin All About?
It works just like the one on your desktop. When you delete a record, it doesn’t disappear into the void. Instead, it goes into a holding area — the Recycle Bin — where it stays for a limited time. If you change your mind or made a mistake, you can bring the record back.
No stress. No support tickets. No headaches.
A few helpful things this new feature allows:
- You can bring back deleted records — even in bulk
- It gives you time to catch mistakes before they become problems
- Admins can restore data through the Power Platform Admin Center
- It’s flexible and simple to use
Turning It On — Takes Just a Minute
If you’re curious to try it out, here’s how to enable it:
- Go to the Power Platform Admin Center
- Choose the environment where you want to activate the feature
- Navigate to: Settings > Product > Features
- Find Recycle Bin (Preview) and switch it on
- Choose how long you want deleted records to be recoverable
That’s it — no coding, no complicated setup.

Restoring Deleted Records
Once the Recycle Bin is enabled, restoring something you’ve deleted is easy:
- Go back to the Power Platform Admin Center
- Navigate to: Settings > Data Management > View Deleted Records (Preview)
- Look through what’s been removed
- Click to restore anything you need

Why This Matters (More Than You Think)
Mistakes are part of working in any system, no matter how experienced you are. Someone deletes a contact. A team member cleans up old leads — and accidentally removes something active. Stuff happens.
The new Recycle Bin gives us room to fix those errors before they cost us time, money, or clients. It’s not just a feature — it’s a bit of a safety net.
Have You Tried It Yet?
If you’ve played around with this new feature already, we’d love to know how it’s helped. Got a story about how it saved your day? Or maybe a tip for other users? Drop it in the comments or shoot us a message.
This might be a small update on paper — but for teams using Dynamics 365 daily, it’s a pretty big deal.
